Default Can I delete Outlook Express and re-install

Can I delete Outlook Express and re-install? I had Comcast broadband and it
was linked to that but now I have Qwest. I use Hotmail.I can compose and send
but it never sends. It just sits in my out box. I hit send/receive but it
goes nowhere. It just sits there waiting. I would like to make OE my mail
client again.

OE can be reinstalled, kinda/sorta, but I'd very much doubt it'd fix your
problem.

Please state your full Windows version (e.g., WinXP SP3; Win2K SP4).

Do you have any other email accounts running in OE besides the Hotmail
account?

Does OE's Folders pane include the Hotmail-specific folders named Inbox,
Sent Items, Deleted Items, and Bulk Mail?

You can no longer send HOTMAIL from OE. Have to use Windows Live
Mail. Goto Microsoft for info and possible download of Windows
Live Mail. Google is your friend (at least sometimes).

Default Can I delete Outlook Express and re-install

I've rethought my question. I guess what I want to do is delete all account
names from it, including mine, any association with the old Comcast account
and basically start fresh.
Is it because I no longer have Comcast and that is what the account somehow
is linked to the reason it's not working? It's been over 8 months since I've
tried to use OE.
I have had over the last year various people stay with me (traveling
relatives, friends etc) and are no longer here and have mail names. I thought
if I deleted and started fresh it would solve a few problems noted earlier.
I have XP Pro SP2 retail version. I have the disk.
Q. -"Do you have any other email accounts running in OE besides the Hotmail
account?" -
A. - One friend downloaded Mozilla Thunderbird so he could get his Gmail,
whatever that is. He could not configure OE to get his mail.
Q - "Does OE's Folders pane include the Hotmail-specific folders named
Inbox, Sent Items, Deleted Items, and Bulk Mail?"? -
A - Don't know because now it won't open for some reason. I suppose it does.
It's been so long I don't remember.
I tried to send myself a test mail before I posted on 3-24-09 and it would
not send.

I've rethought my question. I guess what I want to do is delete all
account
names from it, including mine, any association with the old Comcast
account
and basically start fresh.

1. Create a new identity via OE Files | Identities | Add new identity. Name
it anything you want /except/ "Main Identity" and do not include the word
"main" in the name.

2. Assuming you do NOT want or need any of the messages in the old identity,
delete it via File | Identities | Manage Identities | select (highlight) the
identity you want to delete & press the REMOVE button.

Q. -"Do you have any other email accounts running in OE besides the
Hotmail
account?" -
A. - One friend downloaded Mozilla Thunderbird so he could get his Gmail,
whatever that is. He could not configure OE to get his mail.

Well, your friend shouldn't have been using your OE identity to begin with.
You can uninstall Thunderbird via Add/Remove Programs if it's still
installed.

Q - "Does OE's Folders pane include the Hotmail-specific folders named
Inbox, Sent Items, Deleted Items, and Bulk Mail?"? -
A - Don't know because now it won't open for some reason. I suppose it
does.

If you can't even open OE to create a new identity, let me know.

I tried to send myself a test mail before I posted on 3-24-09 and it would
not send.

The new identity should take care of that.

If you need help in setting up your Hotmail account in your new identity,
just ask in a reply to this thread.

Adhere to all of the following caveats to avoid such problems in the future,
Joe:

- Don't use Inbox or Sent Items folders to archive messages. Move your
archives to local folders that you've created for this purpose.

- Empty Deleted Items folder daily.

- Frequently perform a manual compact of all OE folders while "working
offline". More at http://www.insideoe.com/files/maintain.htm

- Do not cancel Automatic Compacting, should it occur, and do not attempt to
close OE via Task Manager or shutdown your machine if Automatic Compacting
is taking place.

- Disable email scanning by your anti-virus application. It can cause
corruption (i.e., loss of messages) and provides no additional protection:

My friend wasn't using my idenity, he had his own but it wouldn't link to his
other email. Someone told him to use Thunderbird to get his mail. He never
could link the OE account in his name.
I'll try your suggestions.
Thanks

Whatever's not working, it is not true that you can no longer access a free
Hotmail account in OE.

Meanwhile the last I heard from you was...

I'll try your suggestions.

Waiting for feedback.

Sorry, been out of town.
Do you mean create a new OE identity or a new Hotmail identity? If new OE,
it will not even open to get to the login screen. The last time it did open,
I don't believe there were any Hotmail folders.
