What does not work? Outlook Express? "smtp" is not a host. Did this account
ever work? The complete error message must be shown here.

Please post the error message in its entirety. You can left click on it to
highlight and then right click to copy and then paste it into this thread.

There is no such host with the name just "smtp". You need to find out from
your ISP what it is supposed to be, and properly configure your account
settings.

Your account is not setup correctly. You need to get the correct settings
from your isp.

Unless your provider has configured 'smtp' as an alias for their mail host
(I believe @Home used to do that), your client is not properly configured.
The server name, 'smtp', is an extremely rare alias; most providers require
a Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN) as the mail host. E.g., my provider
expects me to use, 'smtp.att.yahoo.com'; though they still run some other
servers, and I actually use, 'mail.pacbell.net'. Check with your provider;
they will know the proper host name (FQDN) to use. Or, at the least, let you
know if they require an alias in a different format.

You posted to a public newsgroup. Many readers may benefit from the answers
to your question; they may even have a similar problem, for which the answer
would be the same. Therefore, all responses should be public.
