Default Corrupt Address Book

The OE Identity name will be a folder in the Address Book. It will not be
the name of the wab file.
The wab file name will be the Windows user name.wab.

File | Identities | Manage Identities. Highlight & click Remove.

Still not sure how you got where you were with the AB. But that's
water under the bridge now.

Since I have solved this problem. Could we solve another?
How do I remove the "Identities" that I am not using?

"SayWhat" wrote in message

Yes I realize that my user name is my identity name
Yes, there are several places where they can be found. About 8
There are some listed as "Address book files.wab" this is the ones
I wish I
had.
those listed as "Administrator.wab" are some that I don't want.

(user name)

Perhaps I should have said (Identity name)

User name is the (Identity name) you have in Outlook Express.

What are the names of found .wab files, are any the same name you
use in OE?

By the way, Windows XP by default, hides a lot of files

To show hidden files.

Go to Control panel and open Folder Options or open My Documents,
choose Tools on the menu bar, then choose Folder Options on it's
menu. Either way
opens the Folder Options dialog window. Choose the View tab then
tick "Show
hidden files and folders".

While there uncheck "Hide file extension for known file types",
click OK.

Ok sorry.
I went into the Search Advanced options for hidden files and
folders (checked)
I asked it to search for (my user name).wab
It searched and searched found nothing. Perhaps it is not listed
with my user name?
However, when I do an advanced search for .wab files I have
several
that
are
found.
some are a little older dates but are still uptodate with the way
I
wish
my
address book now was.

So what is it that I should do, since I was unable to find the
.wab files listed with my user name.wab?

I did as you suggested; I went into, My Computer - Programs -
Outlook Express - Address Book

I did not say that.

I said locate your address book (user Name).wab.

Use search to find your address book. Note: in search there is
Advance Options, be sure hidden files and folders is checked.

I did as you suggested; I went into, My Computer - Programs -
Outlook Express - Address Book
I changed the Address Book from wab.exe to Old.exe
It immediatly created a new Address Book, just like the one I
renamed. so I did not accomplish anything doing that.
thanks anyway, it was worth a try.

I had saved a copy of my Address book, a couple of days
ago. I saved it
into a folder on my desktop.

Go to where your existing Address book is located, (user
name).wab, rename it to OLD(user name).wab.

Copy above saved address book on desktop to same location.

This will replace existing address book with the one on your
desktop. Good luck,
Ken

I had saved a copy of my Address book, a couple of days ago.
I
saved
it
into a folder on my desktop.
This address book is just exactly what I want back.
I went into my programs then Outlook express and checked the
address book that is in there. It is the
address book that I am hoping to repair or make it to be just
exactly like the one I have on my desktop
folder.
So the Address Book in my Programs/Outlook Express is the one
that
needs
to
be fixed.

Do an Advanced Search and include Hidden Files and Folders.
Search for: *.wab
&
~wa

See what you can find and figure out.

Hi Bruce; My original Address book had several Folders
with
address
in
them. Now there are several Folders that
appear to be missing. So I tried to recreate the Folders
and I
find
that
I am unable because a popup tells me that
there is already a Folder with that name. I tried other
names
and
got
the same result. So somehow these Folders
are hidden from me. I went into Control Panel - Folder
Options
and
I
noticed that show hidden Folders was
checked. I unchecked it and then hit apply, then I
rechecked
it
and
hit
apply, ok.
However, these Folders still are there but unseen in my
address book. How do I once again get these Folders to be
seen, so that I
can
see
the
addresses I have in them?
thank you

Time to do some trimming IMO folks!. Is there actually a response in from
you in there somewhere?
