Default outlook express pluggin??

Hi, I use AVG free version (anti virus Grisoft)- I was suggested by a
newsreader to check the box in the control center of this program to enable
the feature "use Outlook Express 5 plugin"- Even though he did not say what
it would do & why it is a good idea to get it on, etc we were in the topic
of scanning email for viruses using outlookexpress- I went to the FAQ in AVG
but could not determine the benefits & all it could do to enable this
plugin- Do you have a clue as to what are plugins & in this case what are
the benefits for me enabling this feature???
I have Win XP home & Outlook express 6-

Thanks so very much for your help-! ! ! !

It's advisable *not* to use the plugin if you are using OE6.

It causes more problems than it's worth, and it's not necessary.
Problems sending/receiving, blank mail, corrupt folders......
