Default Outlook Express

I am not sure what I have done but I was trying to back up
my dbx files. When I opened one the pop up box came up and
asked what program to open with. I ticked microsoft
outlook and then when I went into the dbx files the icons
had all changed to the microsoft outlook icon and the
messages I had in my inbox are no longer there. How do I
get these back? I want to back them up and put them onto
my new computer which is operating XP. My current op
system is Windows 2000. Hope someone can help.

Repeat the process and this time select the proper program (i.e., Outlook
Express or msimn.exe which is the executable for the program). Just
Shift+Right click on a DBX file in your message store folder and choose
"Open With" vs. "Open" and set it to Outlook Express and put a check in the
box at the bottom to always use that program.......
