1-If there is a tool for inserting or appending new scans into an existing file, it would be so appreciated for some direction on how to accomplish this task as well as the following task.

2-Has anyone else noticed the scanning and saving process does not default to the last document saved location? This is referred to as a Network Directory Tree, for some reason when using this product when you scan the new document and go to save it, it reverts all the back to my documents instead of where you saved the last document. This in turn is very cumbersome and a waste of valuable time.

Hi Mo,

You can drag or copy and paste between MS Office 2003 Document
Imaging using the thumbnails view (select the thumbnail of the image
you want) right click and use copy go to the other Imaging document
you have open right click in thumbnail pane and choose paste
(Edit=Paste may be greyed out) or you can use the
File=Insert File choice to append another document into
one you have open or you can use the Pages menu to copy or
send pages from one you have open to another Imaging document.

Document Imaging will 'remember' the last location you open a
document from and save back to it and generally remembers the
setting in Tools=Options=Other=File Import Options
but as each Imaging document is running in its own session it
doesn't have a setting for specific save to location in the
user interface, but you may want to see if setting the Export
location to a preferred folder other than the default 'My Documents'
under
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\MSPaper 11.0\ExportSettings
helps.

Bob,

Thank you for the quick response, unfortunately what I was inquiring was scanning a new document into an existing document. The way the program works you have to scan the page save it and insert it into the already existing previous file this I fully understand and the thumbnail drag and past options.
Not sure if your familiar with Kodak Imaging but it had these options and it was offered as the imaging feature that Microsoft Office Document Imaging has now taken its place.

As for your directory sourcing. This is fine if your within that one document but note that each time you scan a new document it opens a new window which in turn reverts the default.
