Default access to archived (Outlook) e-mails (in office data file)

How can I access archived e-mails? Once they are archived from Outlook, in an
office data file) I get the message: 'You are attempting to open a file of
type 'office data file' (.pst). These files are used by the operating system
and by various programs. If you want to open the file, click with Open
With...'
Even if I click on 'open with' I still do not get to read the archived
e-mails.
What do I need to do in order to open or retrieve old, archived e-mails?
Thanks!

Archived .pst files can only be opened with/by Outlook.

You have to open them within OL
ie with OL started, File/Open/Data File (Personal Folders depending on
version) browse to location of archive.pst
