Default Microsoft Shared Fax Service on windows server 2003

hi Guys,

I have a friend who is trying to use the Microsoft Shared Fax service on
windows 2003 server, he is doing this using outlook 2003 - has saved the Fax
phone number in an outlook contact (In fact it is an entire distribution
list). Customer is able to send and receive email in outlook fine.Customer
is also able to send Fax to this Distribution List from within outlook fine.
The problem occurs when the customer right clicks on a file and Chooses send
to mail recipient and tried to send the fax to this same distribution list :
It gives the error message :
" the addin " c:\prog file\msshare fax\bin\fxsext32.dll could not be
installed or loaded
This pro may be resolved by using a detect & repair in the help menu "
- Microsoft fax service mangenger 5.2.3790

Could any of the MVPs advice on how we can rectify this. Is this a Bug ?

Thanks in advance.

Best Regards,

Sam

I assume detect and repair did not work? Is the Fax Transport at the top of
the transport list in the Outlook profile that is invoked? Was Outlook
running at the time?
If so, it is most likely a bug.
Integration with Outlook 2003 has been deprecated severely. No one owns it
(Fax developers and Outlook developers appear no longer to collaborate).
User should be printing to the Fax printer if they want to send from an
application other than Outlook.

hi Russ,

THanks for the prompt Reply Russ ! Yes Detect and repair has been tried.
Will also check about the Fax Transport in the list and also if outlook was
running at that time.

Thanks a lot for the workaround.

Regards,

Sam
