Is there a PDF
Thanks Mary!
I have some "cleaning up" to do to it before I send it. We just got some changes, so give me a day or two. I REALLY appreciate this. Until I can learn more about saving as PDFs, I will gladly and gratefully accept your offer. And, I'll tell my employer that I AM spending quality time ;-) online, not just messing around as I've been accused. I'm just tired of, after being here for 9 years, taking calls complaining about things that are wrong, wrong, wrong in the handbook. It would irritate me, too, if I drove x amount of miles to see or enter something that was listed on a specific date, only to find out when I got here, that there was a typo and it is a different date. -- I have a "love/hate" relationship with computers - I love them, they hate me! Some stuff listed as being provided (bedding for animal, e.g.) has not been done for years. Hopefully, I got the premiums correct. Imagine 14 pages of stuff like this: 19-118 Huck Weaving $4 $3 $2 19-119 Lace Net Darning $4 $3 $2 19-120 Wall Hangings $4 $3 $2 19-121 Clothing $4 $3 $2 19-122 Rugs $4 $3 $2 19-123 Your Choice $4 $3 $2 19-124 Afghan $6 $4 $2 that was done in 8 pt or smaller type! Fortunately, I was able to use Abbyy Fine Reader to scan the pages. I had to do a little adjusting to bring it from Word to the paper but overall it averaged about 45 minutes a page for everything. Since the newspaper which prints our handbook for us started charging us, this project has become even more of a headache. The paper uses Mac with Quark programming, and we, of course, use Windows. Finding a cost-effective way of producing this handbook has been very challenging. Not to mention, finding a way of producing it so it is CORRECT - we now get only one chance of proofing it after they have made their mock-up. When it goes back to them, if they do not catch our corrections, that is the way the handbook is printed. Makes for some difficult times when fair comes. I have hopes that this year, with the newspaper saying if we send our proof as PDF, that things will run more smoothly in that department. Wish me luck!!! ;-) |

Is there a PDF
Hey all! I GOT it! Woohoo! The newspaper called yesterday afternoon,
shortly before I was leaving, and said that the trial I sent worked! Right size, everything is there, etc. So, all I have to do now is copy and paste to that document, send it, and they will print it EXACTLY the way I gave it to them. At least any mistakes in it this year will be mine, and I'll know who to blame. ;-) THANK YOU ALL for your help! I have been recommending this site to all my friends (and even some "enemies"! LOL). -- I have a "love/hate" relationship with computers - I love them, they hate me! "CJBookie" wrote: tutorial? I need to "print" a Publisher file as a 600 res. PDF so our newspaper can print it. I don't see an option for resolution when I click on print. Also, I need to know which is the best setting to "print" to - screen, print, ebook, or prepress??? I need a simple, easy to understand tutorial. PrimoPDF is fairly easy to use, but I need help! -- I have a "love/hate" relationship with computers - I love them, they hate me! |
