Default Add-in Macros

My boss and I need to share a spreadsheet which uses a macro that is
defined in an addin. He is running windows xp with excel 97 and I'm
running OS X 10.3.9 with excel 2004. When I first tried to use the
spreadsheet I got these errors saying excel couldn't find macro. I
determined the problem was for some reason the path to the addin was in
the formula and excel thought the macro name was a range. I was able to
use the macro and the spread by using find and replace to remove the
path from all the formulas which used the macro.

All was well and good until earlier today my boss made some change to
the worksheet and now all the addin paths are showing up again. I have
not asked him if he had any trouble using the macro from the addin
after I had saved it previously. Obviously I can always do a find and
replace on the add-in paths whenever I open up the file, but that is
really annoying and I have to use the spreadsheet 2 to 3 times a week.

So after all that backstory here is my question:

1. Are the lack of complete paths to the add-in causing trouble for my
boss?
2. Is there anyway to get excel on mac to realize the file path points
to the add-in which it already has installed?

Your help is greatly appreciated.

Did you properly install the addin, ToolsAddins and browse to find it, not
just load it like any other spreadsheet?

I have been able to answer question (1). The answer is no. I had
removed the file path to the same excel add-in in another spreadsheet.
I later opened that spreadsheet up in windows and I didn't notice any
problem. After saving the spreadsheet in windows I now have all the
add-in file paths back in my spreadsheet.
