A Mix of Things
Okay, I have a variety of issues here that need to be delt with ASAP. First
off, I'm running off of Windows Vista Home Premium. I wanted to downgrade (just for old time sake) to Office 2000. Really, just Outlook 2000 and keep Word, PowerPoint and Excel 2007. Hmm, guess that didn't work out too well. Actually, the setup for Outlook 2000 kept freezing on me. Anyway, so then I just decided to go up a year or two to Outlook 2003; actually then I decided to revert back to Office 2003 all together. Alright, so then I got it all installed except for a few issues. "IMAP store" couldn't be found. I researched this problem a little and told me to make a profile in "Mail Options" tried to, but the other stuff that was supposed allow for me to make a profile weren't available. To make this long story short, I should uninstall EVERYTHING Office related. But I can't now! This is what I get!! "The Windows Installer Service could not be accessed. This can occur if the Windows Installer is not correctly installed. Contact your support personnel for assistance." Now what do I do? Hehe, you guys are my "support personnel" because I'm just a home/student user. Hope to hear back from someone regarding this issue and I apologize for the lengthy message, too. Presumably you tried a repair installation of Office 2003 using the CD?
BTW Outlook 2000 is not compatible with Vista And if you installed an early office version, when a later version was allready installed on the system you probably corrupted a whole lot more. Do you purchance have a restore point to a period before you started installing Outlook 2000 & Office 2003, Vista should automatically have created one? Uninstalling/reinstalling an Office program rarely cures a problem that cannot be cured with an Office repair. http://www.winhelponline.com/blog/vi...t-be-accessed/ Allthough if this is a relatively new PC, you might be better off recovering it to factory state, then installing Office 2003, having first removed any trial of Office 2007 "Jordan Montgomery" wrote in message ... Ok, now the Installer Service works just fine. Thank you. However, we still
run into additional problems. First thing is the "outlvba.dll" file. Everytime I open up Outlook 2003, it tells me that this dll file is not an office add-in. I have researched this myself. I've even downloaded this DLL file, and have attempted to install it myself, but it doesn't succeed. Also, I'm running into the "Please wait while Windows configures Microsoft Office 2003 Professional Edition" every, single time I open up an office program. Did you run a Detect/Repair of Outlook, or insert your Office cd and select
