Default Uninstalling MsAccess and Installing MsAccess Runtime

Hello

We run our HR database using MsAccess, until recently that is, when it was
decided to implement stict change control measures and cut down on licencing
costs. Hence everyone will now be using the Access Runtime instead.

When uninstalling MsAccess from one of our PC's it seems the uninstaller
removes some standard windows components. We tested this by installing a new
machine with the Access runtime installer. This worked perfectly. However
when using a PC that previously had access removed and the Access Runtime
installed, the program falls over completely.

I ran basic folder comparisons, and found that the MsAccess uninstaller had
actually removed the MsQuery.exe file. This executable was just one of many
things I believe had been removed.

If you have dealt with a similar issue in the past, or know of a
workaround/fix, your assistance will be appreciated.

Kind regards

Hi Jorgen,

You may want to also post this in the MS Access group (link below)
and include the versions of MS Access and Runtime you are working with.

Hi,

thanks for the info.

We have managed to solve this issue.
Running a SP3 update seems to fix this.
I think this is possibly due to the Access Runtime possibly installing older
files than what was previously installed by MsAccess.
We have found that a few machines wouldn't take the SP3 update, this is due
to the Pc not having had the SP1a update.

Regards
