Default Data missing in field in pivot table

Using office 2003. I have created a pivot table from data in excel with many
columns. The data in the comments column cuts off after 254 characters (with
spaces), and some of the comments contains 500+ characters.

Yep. That's the way pivottables work.

Maybe you could add a column to the raw data that is shorter based on the longer
column. Then you won't have to worry where the field gets truncated.
