Default Font compatibility problem?

I'm trying to print a client's presentation that uses
Tahoma on our HP8150. On screen everything is fine,
however, when we print out, I get spacing in the middle of
words. This doesn't appear when we pdf the file though.

Does anyone know what is causing this or how I can fix it?

Have you verifed that you have Tahoma on the computer you're printing from?

OK, that likely rules out font substitution (but open the file, choose Format,
Replace Fonts, look for Tahoma in the upper list box and verify that it has a
TT icon next to it, not a "?" or printer icon.

As a workaround, can you make a PDF then print from that to the same printer
with good results?

Is the 8150 a PostScript or PCL based printer?
