Default Why did MS do this?

I used to be simple. To send a fax from outlook. all you had to do was
setup winfax and poof. You coudl send attachments and all that. worked
fine! Now, you can only send a fax via word if you want to send it via
a modem on the machine. You can't send via Excel or anything else, just
word. (in Office 2003) WTF were they thinking by removing this? Now
you have to use a Fax service to fax from outlook 2003? WTF? Yeah I am
a little Peeved right now. Its just stupid. Can ANYONE suggest a
faxing software that can take contacts from Outlook/exchange and
actually fax things from the PC? I don't want a server package as we
have no money in the budget for it. I just want something I can put on
a PC so the person can fax from the PC. He doesn't receive faxes, just
sends them.

You failed to mention which fax software you were using before and which fax
software you are using now.
Clarify what you think has changed.
Your description does not fit with anything I've ever seen.

There must be something wrong with this person's installation because I have
Office 2003 running on Windows XP Pro on two different PCs and I can Fax
with attachments from Outlook using Outlook/Exchange contacts, I can also
print to the Fax printer from every Office 2003 application I have installed
which definitely includes Excel. I'll grant you both the Windows 2000 and
Windows XP Fax services have limitations, however, the symptoms you describe
are NOT normal.
