Default Opening word 97 files in word 2003

When opening our old word 97 files in word 2003 the formatting has been lost and the page sizes have been shrunk. When looking at the page set up it states that the settings are all normal but when printing the document this is not the case. What can i do to allow my old 97 files to be opened in 2003 without losing the orginal fomating?

Hi Pruthven,

I am sure you are doing the right way, it is quiet easy to open
Older verions or WOrd in Word 2003.
Open an earlier version of a document
1.)On the File menu, click Versions.
2.)Click the version of the document you want to open.
3.)Click Open.
This version contains all the previously saved versions.

Please let me know has this helped You...
Thank you...
Raghu...

Thankyou for help. After looking at the problem and trying things out it now appears that it is the markup program that is causing the problems. I have discovered how to remove the markup balloons and this seems to have been the main cause of the problems. Is there away to have it set that the change tracking is turned of by defult as we would like to be able to set it this way
