My Word Table keeps doing strange things.
First, although my table appears to be inserted at the end of text, viewint in print preview shows the first row separated from the main part of the table and inserted itself between the last two paragraphs. The remaining rows of the table display after the last paragraph. I opened a new document, cut and pasted the text, then inserted a new table at the end of the text. I then cut and pasted the table content from the old document to the new table in the new document. Now the table in the new document continues to the end of the page and running off. It does not break and span to the next page. (I really hate word tables.) I look at the table formatting and I see no way to adjust this. Does anyone know what is happening? Is Bill just messing with me again? (I realize word is new; who could expect them to work the bugs out in just fifteen years.)

Which version of Word? You may be creating nested tables.
You may want to look at http://addbalance.com/usersguide/tables.htm From someone else who hates Word tables, although he uses them extensively. -- Charles Kenyon Word New User FAQ & Web Directory: http://addbalance.com/word Intermediate User's Guide to Microsoft Word (supplemented version of Microsoft's Legal Users' Guide) http://addbalance.com/usersguide See also the MVP FAQ: http://www.mvps.org/word which is awesome! --------- --------- --------- --------- --------- --------- This message is posted to a newsgroup. Most likely the table has inadvertently gotten wrapped. Go to Table
Properties: Table and make sure the text wrapping is set to None. -- Suzanne S. My Word Table keeps doing strange things.
Thanks for the ideas. After I posted, something I did or something word ate, caused the table to lay over the regular text. It was really weird. I started over. Again. I had the table that would not wrap to the next page. I then drew a table instead of insert. That worked. I deleted the messed up table in the new file. Everything is fine now. I will try that site charles.
I did go back the messed up file and try Suzanne's text wrap suggestion. It worked. Thanks. (I still hate word tables. In fact I hate word styles too.) |
