Default This patch package could not be opened" error.

I get this error message if I try to upgrade from disk or the web. I have
two hard drives and Office seems to ignore my CD rom drive. Any suggestions?

I had to replace computer's hard disk, faulty, was able to transfer all
programs
and data to a new bootable disk, but Office XP Professional, came up with
error when using software. Unable to repair/uninstall or re-install.
