First column in document not printing (Word 2002)

You might try asking this in word.printing.fonts, where you're more likely to encounter people who speicalize in printing problems.

We have a 4 column document with landscape orientation. Occasionally, the first column of the document does not appear in Print Preview mode, nor does it print. When we changed to a different printer, this seemed to do the trick, but once we switched back to the original printer (a HPLJ 4000), it was still fine, and the first column continued to display. However, upon opening the file a while later and previewing, that first column was once again "suppressed". We then tried previewing and printing it on a different PC which is connected to a local printer, and it printed and previewed fine. We then installed the driver for the HPLJ 4000 onto this other PC, and the document still previewed and printed fine. It seems to be very inconsistent. I thought it might be a problem with the printer driver, but now I'm not sure what it is. I can't determine if it's a problem with a setting in Word, a printer issue, or a problem with this document itself. Any suggestions would be appreciated!
