Default accessing world wide web from Excel 2002

How do I configure Excel or my system to allow access to
the world wide web when clicking on
http://www.whatever
when
http://www.whatever
is in a cell of an Excel spreadsheet?

You can do an Insert|Hyperlink (or ctrl-K) to add the link if excel doesn't
convert it to a hyperlink after you finish typing. (when xl2002 sees www. in
the cell, it knows to make it a link. Same with xl2k--I don't recall about
xl97.)

Your version of excel doesn't do that?

You can also use a worksheet formula:

=HYPERLINK("http://www.whatever.com")
