Default Outlook 2003 won't work ?

I've been using OE and had too many problems. I haven't used Outlook in
quite a while and when I brought it up I got this message.
The data file 'Personal Folders' was not closed properly.
This file is being checked for problems. Each time I try it, it spends
several minutes checking and then locks
up. I kill it thru Task Mgr and an error message is sent. Then it'll
start in the Safe Mode and same thing all over.
What do I need to do to get it fixed?
Thanks
Hank

Before opening Outlook, riun SCANPST.EXE (the Inbox Repair Tool) on the PST.
