Yeah, Brian I am quite meek and mild and extremely peaceful, but I just
don't suffer fools and failures easily. -- "If you don't know where you are going, any road will take you there!" |

All very interesting...but focus on me guys.
Yes I am on a p2p network. Yes the file is located on an associates hard drive. Cannot access from his computer either. Yes I have NAV running. Disabled it & no luck. Same files have been used and edited for thepast year+. No problems. |

Yes the file is located on an associates hard drive. Cannot access from his computer either. Copy the file(s) to your local hard drive, and open them from there. Yes I have NAV running. I asked a similar question further up the line (sorry).
All of Kevin's particulars apply to me as well, except that I can't copy the file to my harddrive (it gives me an error). I tried deactivating Script Blocking as well as the Office plug-in and still no luck either opening it in Publisher or copying it to the hard drive. Any other suggestions? Thanks! -----Original Message----- Ed, you are a freakin genius. aka...thanks . |

When trying to open a file from another computer, I receive
an error message saying that (path/filename) cannot be opened because it is currently being used by another program. It then tells me to quit the program and try again. I have done that numerous times and rebooted both computers (numerous times) and I still get the same error message. It only happens with certain files. When trying to copy it from the hard drive of the other computer to mine, it gives me an "Access Denied" error message and suggests that my hard drive may be full (it is not) or that the file is write protected (it is not nor is the section of the hard drive I tried to copy it to). Thanks. -----Original Message----- A small child turns to Ed, and exclaims: "Look! Look! A post from Elwood !"... Are you able to copy other files from the same location to your local hard drive? Can you copy it from where it is to another area of the remote hard drive before copying it over? If you log on to the remote computer (either via Remote Desktop or locally), are you able to copy the file to your computer? Or to another area of the PC in question? -- Ed Bennett - MVP Microsoft Publisher http://www.mvps.org/the_nerd/ Before reading this message, view the disclaimer: http://mvps.org/the_nerd/disclaim.htm |
