Link a shape so only one copy need be updated
I have a multipage visio diagram where shapes are used as connections across the pages. I would like to be able to link the connector shapes so that changing the text in one connector shape causes the text in the 'linked' shape to update as well (like a cross-reference in Microsoft Word).
I have tried using the 'favorites' option within the stencil, however the shape text and custom properties of each instance are not changed if I update the master within the stencil. Am I right in thinking that there is no way to do this? (I am using Visio 2003) Russell Fewing |

Mark,
thanks for the info. That has made my life easier. Of course, what would REALLY help is if i could syncronise the custom properties at the same. I would also really like to be able to have an off-page reference that connects to two or more pages. And as long as i am writing a wish list, could the "keep syncronised" option be added to every shape? Let me know if there is a way of doing any of the above - otherwise just pass my suggestions on to the Visio team with my compliments. best regards Russell Fewing (p.s. I preferred the way Visio 2002 displayed the custom properties when you published to a web page. i.e. changed automatically without having to use the ctrl-click that Visio 2003 requires) "Mark Nelson [MS]" wrote: Open the Basic Flowchart Shapes stencil and drag out the Off-page Reference shape. -- Mark Nelson Microsoft Corporation This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights.
