Default Transparency in .PNG Files

I am saving an object in Visio 2000 as a .png file and
setting the background color and transparency to 255 0
255. However, when I look at the file in MS Photo Editor
the background is not transparent. In Photo Editor I have
to select Set Transparent Color, click on the background,
I do not change anything in the Change Color to
Transparent window, then I save the file again.

I have played with setting other options during the Save
as PGN. Nothing seems to give me what I want. I have
several files to recreate as .png and do not want to have
to manually edit each file.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Deb.

Transparency in PNG files is problematic. Not every app supports it,
unfortunately. If quality isn't degraded, try a transparent GIF and see if
that works.
