Visio missing menu selection to import Project files to timeline
I have Visio 2003 pro and Project 2007 loaded. When I follow the help
instructions to import Project files to Timeline (open a timeline, then from the timeline menu item select import) I find that there is no Import selection. The strange thing is that within our work group most of the systems set up are the same; but one of the systems actually has the selection! The best we can come up with is that Project needs to be loaded after Visio for this to work. Anyone have any advice, other than reloading both programs in some specific order, on how to make this work? |

Visio missing menu selection to import Project files to timeline
There is no order requirement that I'm aware of for the Timeline solution
specifically. However - it is always a best practice to install the older application versions first, then newer ones. This is because of the shared modules between the various apps in the Office family. In a workstation where you have the problem, try closing Visio 2003, and all other Office apps, and then use the Control Panel to repair the Project 2007 installation. It may be that there are installation settings that need to be restored for Project. Alternatively - just run Project 2007, which should automatically restore any changed registry settings. Visio missing menu selection to import Project files to timeli
Thanks for the advice Barb.
Unfortunately, it didn't work to repair either Project or Visio. I guess I am going to have to uninstall and figure out the right sequence, nobody here can remember exactly how their system was set up.
