The message read new updates are ready for you install.
I thought it was something I needed to do. I saw something
about Google and when the smoke cleared, Powerpup was gone
and Google was in his place. How can I get him back simply?

I have no idea who or what Powerpup is but I do know it's not part of
Office.

Sounds like the plot of a reality TV show.

Well, it's hard to tell if your Office Assistant PowerPup has been just
hidden or completely uninstalled or what.

As a first step, try opening Word, clicking the Help menu, and choosing Show
the Office Assistant. Does any Office Assistant appear when you do that?

JoAnn,
Powerpup was an Office 97 assistant but it doesn't sound like it is
the same Powerpup the original poster is referring to or could it be....

Ohhhhhhhhhhhh. I first read it as Power up, thinking it was some sort of a
third party add-in to beef up some Office function. Later I saw it was Pup,
not up.

Almost seem fruitless to find a new assistant now tho. Why bother when
assistants are gone in future versions of Office? You can start preparing
for that now. ;-)
