Word 2000 Windows
I've just had W2k forced on me at work, instead of
Word97. I can't find a way to stop word opening a new document in a new window, instead of in a daughter window. Surely there's a way to do this? I'm running NT4. Thanks M |

Word 2000 Windows
Hi Mike
I don't think that there is a way to stop the new documents from opening in a new window. It took me a while to get used to all the new windows, but as with any new software you use lots, you do get used to it. Neil Knobbe Visual Basic MVP "Mike K" wrote in message ... Suzanne - got it. Largely solves it- but it's not perfect.
Why did MS scrap the very good MDI? It's much more convenient than SDI. Regards M -----Original Message----- See http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/Customization/SDIMDI.htm -- Suzanne S. Many people actually prefer SDI. I know I do; I'd already been intuitively
reaching for the Taskbar when I wanted to switch documents. In Word 2002 and above, you have the option to revert to a semi-MDI. And I'm told that in Windows XP the logic of SDI really becomes apparent (because of the way XP can handle windows on the Taskbar). -- Suzanne S.
