You copied the DBX files from the CD to the C:\Mail folder.
The Read Only check boix was unchecked.
You then did the import as described earlier (and shown again below)
None of the old messages appeared?

2) If you did NOT copy the Folder.dbx file:
You created a folder in Explorer and named it C:\Mail
You copied the DBX files from the CD to the C:\Mail folder.
The Read Only check boix was unchecked.
Now, look at the DBX files. You should see the standard files such as
Inbox.dbx, Outbox.dbx, Drafts.dbx, Sent Items.dbx and Deleted Items.dbx.
IF
you created some mail folders in OE such as Old Mail or Stuff (these are
just examples), you would also see a Stuff.dbx and Old Mail.dbx. You
would
have to open Outlook Express and create these mail folders. Once you have
created these mail folders, open them in OE by clicking on them. Now, you
need to copy the Folder.dbx file that now contains the folder names to
the
C:\Mail folder in Explorer. To get the location of this Folder.dbx file,
you
go into OE's Tools | Options | Maintenance tab | Store Folders button and
just note the location of the files. Now, open Windows Explorer and
navigate
to that folder. Copy the Folder.dbx file to the C:\Mail folder. Now
you're
ready to import as shown below:

Importing the old mail into OE.

3. From Outlook Express.
a. File menu
b. Select Import
c. Select Message
d. Select Microsoft Outlook Express
e. Press NEXT
f. Select "Import mail from an OE6 store directory"
g. Press OK
h. Press BROWSE
i. Navigate to the C:\Mail folder.
j. Click on it to highlight it.
k. Press OK
l. Press NEXT
m. Select All folder.
n. Press NEXT

Now Finish up the import and all messages will be imported into OE. Once
done, you can delete the C:\Mail folder.

You did copy the CD to your HDD, correct? Forget about the Desktop.
Create folders in the folder tree with the exact same names as those you
copied to your HDD from the CD. i.e. if you have a dbx file that is
named Saved Mail.dbx, create a folder in OE as Saved Mail. Copy a
message to that folder from anywhere. Now, go into Windows Explorer.
Expand the thread to your Outlook Express folder, but don't open it.
Now, click on the folder that contains the dbx files you want to get
into OE. Drag the Saved Mail.dbx file to the Outlook Express folder.
When it turns blue, release the mouse key. You will get a prompt, "Do
you want to overwrite...........?" Click: Yes. The message you copied to
the folder will be replaced with the messages you saved.

Ok, I'm sorry but I just want to get this figured out so bad but don't
want to
do something to make it worse. I wanted to paste the example to you
but I'm
not certain if I should. My old folders are listed with a:

Citadel Email turner.dbx

But when I had my folders in OE they were viewed as:

example: CountryFriends.dbx
(without the Citadel Email turner) in front.

But looking at the files on the CD
they show as:

Citadel Email turner - CountryFriends.dbx

When you say desktop you just me the place all my icons are showing?
Sorry...

You're posting through the CDO (Website) so I'm not sure what you're

as
far as that goes.

This is the reply I was looking for before. It may be a little
clearer
than the other.

Go to the message store and drag the dbx files for the folders that
you
are missing mail from to the Desktop. In OE, make sure you have all
the
folders in the folder tree with the exact same names as the dbx files
and copy any message into each of these folders. ***You must do
that***.
Close OE and go back into Windows Explorer.
Expand the thread to show the Outlook Express folder, but do not open
it. Now, click on
Desktop and you will see the dbx files you sent there. One by one,
drag
them to the OE folder. When the folder turns blue, release the mouse
button. You will get a prompt asking you if you want to overwrite,
click
Yes. When you are done, open OE and each
folder will have the messages back and the one you copied to the
folders
will be gone.

Does this still pertain to me?

"Bruce Hagen" wrote:

I don't have your complete thread, so I'm not sure if this will
help
or
not. It's a fix for when a folder is deleted from the folder tree,
but
the dbx file still exists. If this is a feasible workaround, you
can
do
all the folders at the same time.

In Windows Explorer, click on the file and drag it to the Desktop.
Open
OE and create a folder with the *exact* same name as the one on
your
desktop. ***Copy a message from any folder to the new one. You
MUST
do
this.*** Close OE. Go back to Windows Explorer and Click Desktop
and
drag the folder from the Desktop to the OE store folder that you
clicked
on to reveal the .dbx files. Prompt - "Do you want to
overwrite......."?
Click Yes.

You created a folder in Explorer and named it C:\Mail (not OE,
Windows

You copied the DBX files from the CD to the C:\Mail folder.
The Read Only check boix was unchecked.
You then did the import as described earlier (and shown again
below)
None of the old messages appeared?

2) If you did NOT copy the Folder.dbx file:
You created a folder in Explorer and named it C:\Mail
You copied the DBX files from the CD to the C:\Mail folder.
The Read Only check boix was unchecked.
Now, look at the DBX files. You should see the standard files
such as
Inbox.dbx, Outbox.dbx, Drafts.dbx, Sent Items.dbx and Deleted
Items.dbx.
IF
you created some mail folders in OE such as Old Mail or Stuff
(these are
just examples), you would also see a Stuff.dbx and Old
Mail.dbx.
You
would
have to open Outlook Express and create these mail folders.
Once
you have
created these mail folders, open them in OE by clicking on
them.
Now, you
need to copy the Folder.dbx file that now contains the folder
names to
the
C:\Mail folder in Explorer. To get the location of this
Folder.dbx
file,
you
go into OE's Tools | Options | Maintenance tab | Store Folders
button and
just note the location of the files. Now, open Windows Explorer
and
navigate
to that folder. Copy the Folder.dbx file to the C:\Mail folder.
Now
you're
ready to import as shown below:

Importing the old mail into OE.

3. From Outlook Express.
a. File menu
b. Select Import
c. Select Message
d. Select Microsoft Outlook Express
e. Press NEXT
f. Select "Import mail from an OE6 store directory"
g. Press OK
h. Press BROWSE
i. Navigate to the C:\Mail folder.
j. Click on it to highlight it.
k. Press OK
l. Press NEXT
m. Select All folder.
n. Press NEXT

Now Finish up the import and all messages will be imported into
OE. Once
done, you can delete the C:\Mail folder.

The account info? I don't see why. Did you try:

If I leave all of them including the ones I was setting up for my new account
folders I wouldn't have saved them on the CD what I have on CD is the
complete old files. If I leave the new files it won't be an exact folder
tree...make sense?
