DDE Commands to open a template
Does anyone know the DDE command sequence to open a template as if it
had been clicked? We want to be able to open a template from a third party product. If we open winword with the template, or execute the .dot itself, they both open the template. What we want is the same functionality as clicking on the template gives - ie it opens a new document based on the template. Any ideas?? --- Message posted from http://www.ExcelForum.com/ |

DDE Commands to open a template
Hi Steve
The command is [REM _DDE_Direct][FileNew("%1")] with application = WinWord and topic = System. If you look in Windows Explorer, Tools Folder Options File Types ..DOT Advanced, you find that the default action for templates is "New", not "Open" (which is the default for .DOC files). The command above is for the New action. steve tucknott wrote: Does anyone know the DDE command sequence to open a template as if it had been clicked?
