Default Cannot complete install, and cannot uninstall

I've tried to install my new Office Enterprise 2007. The first install
attempt, it went to a black screen as if the computer powered down in sleep
mode or something similar. I do not have any power settings set to go to
hibernate or standby. Pressing buttons and moving the mouse didn't wake the
system. And this wasn't just a brief moment or so where the system was in
the middle of any form of processing (about an hour in this state).

Eventually I powered down by holding the button and repressing to start. I
saw the applications were installed. However when I tried to run them, they
wouldn't execute. So I put the cd back in and tried to reinstall. After a
long install process, an error message displayed saying there was an error
attempting to install the application - try again. I've tried several time
and cannot get past that. I've gone so far as to try uninstalling. The cd
doesn't have any options for uninstall nor detect and repair. So I have to
use settings, control panel, add/remove programs. I can select to remove
Office Enterprise all I want, it will not uninstall the application.

WTF???

How do I uninstall the 2007 Office suites if I cannot uninstall it by using
the "Add or Remove Programs" feature?
