Default Upgrading from one type of Suite to Another

I have Office 2003 Pro on a WinXP machine and plan to upgrade with a
Office 2007 Standard CD (not an upgrade-priced CD--it's the full
package). I want to make sure that _all_ 2003 applications are removed
during the upgrade.

How do I make sure the upgrade results in a pure 2007 suite even
though the range of applications is not the same in the Pro and the
Standard suites? (I sure hope I don't need to uninstall 2003 before
installing the new one.) I have a lot of custom templates and macros
that I don't want to lose.

A 2007 upgrade will only replace the earlier version components it contains.
You can save your templates to eg My Documents
I dont recollect whether the upgrade process actually impacted on my 2003
custom templates (which in any case I had saved elseware)

You save everything that you need (data and etc) then uninstall Office 2003 and
install Office 2007

Why?

2007 does not do _anything_ better than 2003 does. Not one thing.

Youj can open 2003 files with 2007, and you can get a FREE PATCH from MSoft
so that you can open 2007 files with 2003.

When MSoft hits the streets with Office 2010, it's supposed to be free and
Web-based.
