Default "Unread Messages" in Outlook 2007

For some reason, only the unread messages in the Inbox are flagged (1), (2),
etc. If I have filters to redirect my mail to different folders, they don't
show up as being unread even though they are still bolded as not being read.

Is there a way to fix this? There are a lot of times where my icon doesn't
show that I have new mail and I have to continuously check the program to see
if mail has arrived. Even though it will show up if it's in the inbox.

Have you checked the settings for the Unread Messages search folder to make sure it is pointed at the desired folders?

I clicked the "Personal Folders" and "select subfolders". I just now clicked
the 233 folders I have to see if that fixed it. Thanks
