Norton anti spam no longer working

Have Symantec Norton Internet Security Pro. version 2004 installed, all
works well except in Outlook version XP on Windows XP SP2 the e mails are
no longer seen as spam when arriving

The anti spam menu bar is in place and if I click on the spam button the e
mail is placed in the spam folder but this only works "manually" and not
as the e mails arrive

The anti spam plug in is in place as well in Outlook , I have even deleted
Norton and re installed it complety but still the same problem

Any ideas would be a help, Have already checked the Symantec site to no
avail

Problems with symantec AV can often be cured by *completely removing* the symantec product prior to reinstalling.
