Default MONTHNAME when getting external data from Access

I have a query in MS Access that uses the monthname function. When I try to
create a pivot table from external data (using the DB as the source) I get an
error that the function isn't supported in Excel. Is there another function
I could use?

The function as it appears in Access is:
monthname(month([DATE]))

Thanks.

You could use something like this:

=LOOKUP(MONTH(date),{1,2},{"January","February"})

Ensure that the #'s are in increasing order as you enter them.

Hi,

monthname(month([DATE]))

could become a cell format as "mmmm"

On Excel french version :
=texte(date;"mmmm")
expected to be
=text(date,"mmmm")
