Office XP Installation
I have installed Office XP and everytime I restart my
computer the Microsoft Installer runs through the installation process of installing Office XP again, not where I have to select the options just installer running. Office products run normally. Anyone else run into this, any assistance would be appreciated. I have un- installed, reloaded and completed all updates. This only happens on restarts, not log offs. Thanks Dave |

Office XP Installation
This is caused by a couple Current User registry keys not being written.
There are two keys involved: UserData and OSAShortcut. These keys are located in the following locations: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\9.0\Co mmon Also these keys under the 9.0 key: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook Resolution Methods 1. Upgrading the Windows Installer to verison 2.0 will resolve the issue. Launching the Office apps afterward with the Administrator profile is often necessary. 2. This issue almost never exist in the Administrator Profile. Using the Copy To function in Windows 2000 to copy Admin profile over the Default User profile will resolve the issue as the keys exist properly in that profile. When users log on for the first time, there profile is a direct copy of the Default User profile. 3. Modifying the registry (by including the UserData and OSAShortcut keys).
