Please help me send!!
Hi, I can receive mail from Outlook Express 6 just fine. I do have a
dial-up connection. My problem is with sending mail from Outlook Express. When I click on "Send" the screen blinks and nothing happens. When I click on "Send All" there is nothing to indicate that my mail is being sent at all. |

I've been reading other posts and I have turned off my email scanning on my
Norton Anti Virus program and I still have the same problems as before. "Kay" wrote: Hi, I can receive mail from Outlook Express 6 just fine. I do have a dial-up connection. Move any mail you want to save from Sent Items to a local
folder you create. Then, do the following for Sent Items and, if it still won't send, do the same for the Outbox. ToolsOptionsMaintenanceStore folder will reveal the location of your Outlook Express files. Press the Tab key to highlight the folder location, then Ctrl+C. Close OE, then StartRunCtrl+V will put the location in the box - Click OK and you'll see the OE files. Otherwise, write the location down and navigate to it in Windows Explorer. In WindowsXP & 2K, the OE user files (DBX and WAB) are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in Explorer, you must enable Show Hidden Files and Folders under StartControl PanelFolder OptionsView. With OE closed, find the DBX file for the folder in question {Sent Items.dbx} and delete it. A new one will be created automatically when you open OE. Do not archive mail in default OE folders. They will eventually become corrupted. Create your own user defined folders for storing mail and move your mail to them. Empty Deleted Items folder regularly. Keep user created folders under 100MB, and Default folders as empty as is feasible. After you are done, follow up by compacting your folders manually while working *offline* and do it often. Click on Outlook Express at the top of the folder tree so no folders are open. Then: FileWork Offline (or double click Working Online in the Status Bar). FileFolderCompact all folders. Don't touch anything until the compacting is completed. In ToolsOptionsMaintenance: Uncheck Compact messages in background and leave it unchecked. {N/A if running XP/SP2}. Thank you Bruce so much for responding to my question. I did as you told me
to but got stuck. After I went to "view" (per your directions) I couldn't find a DBX file. Where do I go to find that? I did see a lot of different files but I couldn't find a DBX one, let alone one that was marked "Sent Items.dbx". If you have checked the Radio Button to Show hidden files
and folders in the Control Panel, then, in OE, go to ToolsOptionsMaintenanceStore Folder. Here you will see the location of your Outlook Express files. Write the location down and navigate to it in Windows Explorer. Then delete the two files. Bruce Hagen MS-MVP - (IE/OE) ~IB-CA~ "Kay" wrote in message ... Yes. I did that. Sorry, I don't know much about computers. I did write down the location of
my OE files and I typed it in the search bar at the top of my internet explorer page (the one that you use http:...). Is that what I'm supposed to do? When I pressed "go" I got a message saying that there was no such address. Hi Kay,
Use the Start, Run box. Open the Store Folder Instead of using search the store folder can be opened directly. Each identity has its own store folder. a.. In Outlook Express click on Tools, Options, Maintenance tab...Store Folder. b.. Place the cursor at the left of the text of the path to the folder. c.. Drag the cursor to the right until the text scrolls to the end. d.. Right-click on the text and choose Copy. e.. In the Start, Run box right-click Paste. Click OK to open the store folder. Using Keyboard Shortcuts for Transfer of the Folder Path Courtesy of: Jim Pickering, MVP-Outlook Express An even easier method when opening that page is to use the Tab to highlight the folder location, then Ctrl+C and close OE, then use Start/Run and Ctrl+V. Same caveat about hidden files applies but can be easily modified in Explorer by using Tools/Folder Options. -- Tim K. aka Kuay Tim MS-MVP - (IE/OE) Lynnwood, WA * "Kay" wrote in message ...
