Default pst file

I had Microsoft office 2003 on a dell 8400 computer that I uninstalled then
placed the SATA drive on my new HP computer as a secondary drive. I now
have office 2007 but am unable to find either a PST file or a WAB file. I
know by uninstalling the program, it does not delete the files. I did a
search and no luck. I may have found a wab file but it is from 2004. Any
idea what happened to them? Or has anybody gotten similar symptom?

well you won't find a WAB file as Outlook doesn't use them. All your contact
data is in the pst file.
Windows has pst files down as "hidden" so you either need to enable "view
hidden and system files" in Windows explorer or tell search to look in
hidden files.
The default location of pst files is:
C:\Documents and Settings\{your user name here}\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Outlook\

the problem is that I uninstalled Office 2003 which included Outlook 2003,
hence I do not have an outlook folder anymore. I tried finding that folder
but it does not exist anymore. I was certain that by uninstalling Office
2003, it would not delete your pst or wab files but thouse files are no
longer onb my secondary drive. BTW I installed Office 2007 on my new drive,
NOT the older SATA 1 type drive so I am still at round one.

It doesn't usually - and as I said before, outlook does NOT use wab
files.....did you enable hidden and system files in windows explorer?

I actually found the pst file and gave myself rights to move it by doing the
following but I do not have permission to move the pst file over. It worked
when I had to move all my music files to the new drive:

Open the UserName folder on your Desktop.
Right-click the Music folder & select 'Properties'
Click the 'Security' tab.
Click the 'Advanced' button.
Click the 'Owner' tab & see if you are the Owner. If not, click the 'Edit'
button, select your name from the list and check the box that's labeled
"Replace owner on subcontainers & objects" and 'OK' your way out.
Repeat the process up to the point of opening the 'Advanced' dialog. If the
entry for your username doesn't have 'Full Control', click the 'Edit'
button, select the entry for your username and click the 'Edit' button.
Check the box for Full Control in the Allow column & 'OK' your way out.

Why is Vista such as pain in the neck that the administrator can not move
her/his own files?

Is there another way to move my files?
