Possibility to color-code mail folders in Outlook
I would like to see a feature in Outlook where I can change mail folder text
color and font properties. Enabling color-coded folders and user-defined folder appearance would help building a more effective and personalized folder structure, especially when you have 100+ folders to scroll and move between. The mail folder icons could also be made user-definable for ultimate personalization. ---------------- This post is a suggestion for Microsoft, and Microsoft responds to the suggestions with the most votes. I've been trying to find a way of doing this, and whole-heartedly agree with
your suggestion. Even if you could just alternate colors or shading between successive folders, it would be a great help. All they have to do is enable the same functionality as the Windows Explorer
has. This would definitely enhance the user's ability to organize their data. -- Tiga "T. Jenkins" wrote: I've been trying to find a way of doing this, and whole-heartedly agree with your suggestion. it's really kind of amazing that they DIDN'T anticipate the desire for such a
feature... "Tiga" wrote: All they have to do is enable the same functionality as the Windows Explorer has. This would definitely enhance the user's ability to organize their data. -- Tiga "T. Possibility to color-code mail folders in Outlook
They know people want it, but the cost of making it work was too high for
current versions - other features are more useful and less costly to implement. Time will tell if it made the feature cut in the next version. -- Diane Poremsky [MVP - Outlook] Author, Teach Yourself Outlook 2003 in 24 Hours Need Help with Common Tasks? http://www.outlook-tips.net/beginner/ Outlook 2007: http://www.slipstick.com/outlook/ol2007/ Outlook Tips by email: Subscribe to Exchange Messaging Outlook newsletter: Outlook Tips: http://www.outlook-tips.net/ Outlook & Exchange Solutions Center: http://www.slipstick.com "glennn.php" wrote in message ... it's really kind of amazing that they DIDN'T anticipate the desire for such a feature... yes, i can certainly see how that could be a factor, given Microsoft's
limited profit margin. Possibility to color-code mail folders in Outlook
I've been searching for a way to do this and I am very disappointed to see
this post since it means the feature doesn't exist! It's been harder and harder to organize my Outlook content. I am now looking at other options like having my work mail forwarded to a gmail account. I just can't deal with having to waste two minutes looking for the folder to stick each message into - and I am just a simple clerk with a relatively low email volume (20-30/day). An hour a day I could spend doing something useful. "henrik" wrote: I would like to see a feature in Outlook where I can change mail folder text color and font properties. Possibility to color-code mail folders in Outlook
I strongly agree! I've wanted colored folders since using a Mac 15 years
ago. One suggestion: Sometimes I mark an item in a folder as "unread" and the folder becomes BOLD. It's easier to find a folder if only a few that I'm currently using a lot are BOLD. I also use ALL CAPS for some folders so that they stand out. This work-around isn't as great as your suggestion would be, but it does help. I agree - I have been searching for this function somewhere. They included
the color-coding options for the categories - need to extend that to the folders. I am a very visual person and use icons and colors a lot to streamline. "R. Howells" wrote: I strongly agree! Possibility to color-code mail folders in Outlook
Thanks for these suggestions, and reading this thread decreases my
frustration that this option does not exist, at least I am not alone! It is unbelievable to me that this didn't get added to Outlook 2007 -- dare we hope for 2010? Like someone else in this thread, I have been wanting this option for over 10 years! There are so many fancy features in Outlook that just don't fit into my way of working -- but color coding the folders would make a WORLD of difference to me!!! Nancy "R.
