Default Test Account Settings

Whenever I help a remote user set up a POP3 email account, I always have them
click the Test Account Settings button to make sure the account is configured
correctly. Sometimes they get the error Send test email failed, even though
the test email does get sent. I also send the, a test message from an email
address outside our organization to make sure they don't receive a relaying
error (550). The email works fine, but they keep getting these annoying test
email address failed errors. Any ideas?
