Default inserting hyperlink

When I try to insert a hyperlink & attempt to browse the web, I receive the
message an error occurred while browsing the web. Possibly something to do
with firewall & exceptions. Please assist.

What's the *exact* error message?

Can you browse to the same page in your browser w/o any problems? If so, do
that, copy the URL from the browser's address bar, then paste that into the
hyperlink field in PPT.

If you can't get there in your browser, you won't be able to get there in PPT
either and it's not really a PPT problem.

I did copy the URL from the browser address bar and the message comes up

"An error occurred while browsing files"

I can access the file from my browser.

When you visit the URL via your browser, do you need to log in? PPT can't access links that
require logins.
