Default Installing Visio 2002 Upgrade Product With Vista

I have recently upgraded to a new PC running Vista. I am trying to load a
copy of Visio Proffessional 2002 upgrade. The original non-upgrade Visio
software was Visio Proffesional Ver 4.5 for Windows NT and 95. Visio 2002
runs on Win 98. Since the original non-upgrade Visio was for Win 95 vista
will not recognize the disk when the Visio 2002 installation tries to verify
I have a non-upgrade copy. The Visio 2002 installation fails because it can
not access the disk to verify the original product.
I will not be able to buy a Visio 2007 upgrade product because it will want
a non-upgrade copy of Visio to install the upgrade. I will have the same
problem as i do now. Any suggestions short of paying full price for a new
non-upgrade version of Visio?

I can see your dilemma, with Visio 2007 upgrade you need to have access to
a qualifying copy of Visio in order to complete the install. Why don’t you
work with the trial version of 2007 and see if it meets your needs before
going further?

Also, if you try the Trial of Visio 2007, and choose to puchase it, go
ahead and get the Upgrade version. With 2007 Upgrade versions, you don't
have to have the prior version installed, you just need to have the media -
and your Visio 2002 Upgrade version should work just fine.

I am having a similar problem when trying to install Visio Std. 2007 upgrade.
I have the media for Visio Std 2000, but when I try to install Visio Std.
2007 upgrade and then insert the Visio 2000 disc, I get an error that an
upgrade path was not found. I am using Vista and as well. This worked fine
under Windows XP.
Any way that y ou can see around this?
Thanks,
Chris

Point to the Install\Bin folder in the 2000 disk when prompted for previous
version during the 2007 upgrade.
