Default Formula for returning a yes or no answer

Can anyone tell me what the formula is for returning a answer of yes or no, i.e.
you have a list of cars and you want to mark all the ford cars with a yes and all other cars as no.

bonny, something like this, with list in column A put this in A1 and copy
down

=IF(A1="ford","yes","no")
