Default Outlook 2003 on Vista?

I have loaded Office Basic 2003 on a new HP laptop with Vista. Outlook does
not seem to be installed properly. I can see my Hotmail messages and the
welcome message from Outlook, but can not send through Outlook. I receive
this message" The messaging interface has returned an unknown error. If the
problem persists, restart Outlook." I have reinstalled twice, and restarted
Outlook numerous times, but still the same problem. Any insights?

Have you applied Service Pack 3 for Office 2003 already?
I assume you are using the Outlook Connector to connect to your Live Hotmail
account?

If you are using Word as the email editor, see;

I am not able to do this (Start-Run - Regsvr32.exe%Windir%\System32\.....)
Run has to be typed in on my Start and then the dialogue box that opens
doesn't let me do this. ????

Click the Start button and put

regsvr32 %Windir%\system32\ole32.dll

exactly like this (including the space) in the Search field. Press Enter.

This does not work on my computer. When I push the Start button which is the
MSN logo on bottom left of the lower menu bar the small window (Start Search)
and type in the text indicated- it doesn't help.
