Default ERROR 1311 Office XP Std_students & Teachers

My computer keeps trying to install Office XP Standard.
Students & Teachers Edition, version 2002.
I get the message Error 1311. Source4 file not found
D:\OFFICE1.CAB. Verify that the file exists and that you
can access it. I have tried cleaning the CD but it does
not work. I can access the contents through 'search'
and 'my computer'
There may be a way to copy it directly on the C; drive,
how?

RESOLUTION

OFFXP: "Error 1311. Source File Not Found..." Error Message When You Try to
Install Office
Applies To
This article was previously published under Q325076
SYMPTOMS
When you try to install Office XP from the CD on a Microsoft Windows
2000-based workstation, you may receive an error message similar to the
following in the verbose log:

Error 1311. Source file not found(cabinet): D:\filename.cab. Verify that
the file exists and that you can access it.
You then cannot complete the installation.

NOTE: This behavior may occur when you try to install any Windows
Installer-based program.
CAUSE
This behavior may occur if the Windows 2000 security policy is set to
restrict CD access to the locally logged-on user only. The Windows
Installer does not install the software as the locally logged-on user; if
that policy is in effect, Windows Installer cannot access the CD.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem, copy the contents of the Office CD to a folder on
your hard disk or to a network share, and then run Office Setup from this
folder. To do this, follow these steps:
On your desktop, double-click My Computer.
Double-click the local or network drive on which you want to create a new
folder.

-or-

On the Tools menu, click Map Network Drive, type a server and share path,
click OK, and then double-click that network drive.
On the File menu, point to New, and then click Folder.
Type a name for the new folder, and then press ENTER. For example, type
OfficeXPCD.
Insert the Office CD into your CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive. Hold down SHIFT as
you insert the CD to prevent Setup from starting automatically.
In My Computer, right-click the CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive, and then click
Explore.
On the Edit menu, click Select All.
On the Edit menu, click Copy.
Right-click the folder that you created in step 3, and then click Paste.
When all the files have been copied to the new folder, quit all other
programs that are running, and then double-click Setup.exe in the folder
that you created in step 3 to start Windows Installer and Office Setup.
Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the Office installation.
