Need to calculate on a merge field
Me again. In Word 2002 and 2003 I was able to use the
result in another automatic calculation by naming the first result as a book mark (a set field) and then referencing that field (ref) in a later calculation. ie {SetTotal { = { MERGEFIELD "AMTOWED" } * .25 }} then {Ref Total} will bring in the result from amtowed???? -----Original Message----- You are right, this will work so long as you are not using the result in further automatic calculations. -- Charles Kenyon See the MVP FAQ: URL: http://www.mvps.org/word/ which is awesome! --------- --------- --------- --------- --------- ------ --- This message is posted to a newsgroup. Please post replies and questions to the newsgroup so that others can learn from my ignorance and your wisdom. "Graham Mayor" wrote in message . .. You could use a mask rather than rounding to set a dollar amount eg { = { MERGEFIELD "AMTOWED" } * .25 \# ",$0.00 } See http://www.gmayor.com/formatting_word_fields.htm -- Graham Mayor - Word MVP Web site www.gmayor.com Word MVP web site www.mvps.org/word Charles Kenyon wrote: Use a calculation field: { = { MERGEFIELD "AMTOWED" } * .25 } You may need to use the Round function to keep your amounts to two decimal places. Field braces {} are inserted using Ctrl-F9 not by ordinary typing. "Caroline" wrote in message ... I'm bringing in records from a medical management database. I need to be able to calculate and offer a 25% discount on the amount owed value (which is brought in from that database). Is it possible to set something like this up? Thanks for your help.
