header and footer on specific pages only

I have a 7 page document. I need the (same) header to show up on all pages
except for page 1 and 6. I need the footer (same except for page number) to
show up on all pages except for page 1. I tried doing a section break
before page 6 and this worked fine sort of. If I set the page layout so that
I have different headers and footers and remove from page 1 then I don't get
a header or a footer on page 6. How can this be done?
