Why does Powerpoint lock up when I format design template?
I am using Powerpoint 2002. When I try to format a new design, Powerpoint
locks up, and I have to go to Task Manager and end the application. What can I do to fix this problem?

Do you mean that you are in View Master Slide Master and making changes
there to the Master? What kind of changes are you making? No, when I start a new file, I choose "format," then "slide design" and
cannot go any further. If I hit "control, alt, delete," I go to the task master and it says the program is not responding. I would first try to do a Detect and Repair. Go to the Help menu.
