Default Password corruption/Domain Password change

My organization using a POP3/SMTP mail system, we have encountered an issue
when a user changes his domain password (we have to every 45 days) the
Outlook passwords are not saved, so we have to change the pop3/smtp password
on the server and re enter it on the client, the password must be different
from the last.

Is there a way to fix this so Outlook doesn’t forget/loose the pop3/smtp
Passwords?

Default Password corruption/Domain Password change

I opened a similar case for this and it couldn't be replicated in the end it
went away so I assume it was a SP. In my instance it was when the logon
password expired but I didn't have to reset the password in Outlook just
re-enter BTW Outlook 2003.

Correct this is with outlook 2003, and when the users Domain Password is
expiring. Anyone have any ideas?, this happens on several different
configurations from XP sp1 to SP2, office no Sp to office sp2, all running
office/outlook 2003
