Default Office XP Anomoly

I have a computer with XP-SP3 and Office XP installed. As soon as it boots,
it tried to "install" Office XP and asks for the CD, which I have lost. I do
have Office 2k7 to install but I cannot because whenever I try to install it,
office-xp tried to install on its own and 2k7 install stops. Whenever I run
IE7, this Office-xp install starts up again. I cannot even uninstall it. How
can I get around this annoyance so I can install 2k7? Thx!!!

You could try this tool
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301
Ensure you read carefully and create a restore point first, and have data
backed up!!
