Default Moving Office 2003 Upgrade to new computer

I am buying a new computer, and want to move Office 2003 Pro Upgrade
Edition to it. When I originally bought it, I had Office 2000 Pro
Upgrade Edition installed; it in turn was based on an Office 97 Pro
installation which has long since vanished, CD and all (including the
computer it was installed on).
My question is: can I install my Office 2003 upgrade using the Office
2K CD?
I'm saving my current HD to an external drive enclosure so my new box
will have access to all the files, etc; of course, the registry will
be all different. Is there a quick way to move my data and settings
to the new installation?
TIA for any help...

Assuming you have uninstalled any Trial version of Office 2007, together
with its activation assistant and rebooted prior to trying.
If your old drive is connected to the new PC when the installation of 2003
complains you will have to point it to your Office 2k installation on your
old drive (or Office 2k cd)

You can access old data on the old drive, you may have to 'take ownership'
of Files/folders - see win help - then copy data across to the new
installation.
